STEM Showcase
Joint STEM Showcase with Rathfarnham and Stepaside ETNSs - Monday, 9th March 2020
On Monday, March 9th, Firhouse ETNS hosted a joint STEM showcase event for pupils in senior classes (3rd - 6th) with Rathfarnham ETNS and Stepaside ETNS. We had over 150 children showing off wonderful projects, some of which are shown below. These included: coding a probability spinner, floating gardens to overcome floods, brush bots made with toothbrush heads, building bridges and exploring the fire triangle. The three FETNS classes, who attended the ESB Science Blast at the RDS one week earlier, displayed their projects as well. Pupils from Firhouse Educate Together Secondary School acted as judges, offering feedback on the projects. The day finished with a STEM-themed quiz with teams made up of children of all ages and schools. It was a great day out!
ESB Science Blast at the RDS - Monday, 2nd March 2020
This year, the pupils from 3rd, 4th and 5th Class participated in the ESB Science Blast at the RDS! Each class selected and researched their own research question and presented their findings to judges and visitors at the event. There were also very engaging demonstrations of real-world science by speakers from Explorium and the BBC.
