Lá Glas

Have a look at some of us dressed in green for Lá Glas in our school. We really enjoyed celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge in our school!

Minibeasts

For the month of March we had an Entomology lab in our classroom where we examined insects in their natural environment using magnifying glasses and we also had a measuring station where we used a balance to see how many cubes heavy each minibeast was and we measured the length of the minibeasts using a ruler
We made insects using playdough
We created ladybirds using pipe cleaners and paper plates
We really enjoyed learning all about minibeasts and the job that an entomologist does. It was a lot of fun!!

Sock Puppets

Senior Infants created their own character from a story using a sock puppet. They named their character and were able to use words to describe them. Have a look at some of their creations:

Fairytale Stories

Senior Infants have been busy making some wonderful fairytale stories during home learning. Well done everyone for being so creative!

The Doctor's Surgery

For the month of November we became doctors and patients and set up our very own doctor's surgery in the classroom.
We made some X Rays using cotton buds for the skeleton
Picture
We read the story Zog and the Flying Doctors and made our own cure for orange fever to help the king. All we needed was a unicorn horn, a lion's sneeze, mermaid scales, cheese and some slime.
Picture
We read the story A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon and we coloured stripes on ourselves just like Camilla Cream from the story.
We made a cast for our doll using gauze bandage, glue and strips of paper.
We built our own hospital/doctor's surgery using jaggo blocks

Maths Stations

We love working at our Maths stations at lots of different number activities. Look at us hard at work

Self Expression Day

We had great fun dressing up before the midterm break. Check out some of our cool costumes :)

Garden Centre - Aistear

Our theme in Aistear for the month of October is the Garden Centre. The children have been busy doing lots of different activities based around the theme of the garden. We have a role play area with flowers, pots, gardening tools and a cash register. They took turns being the cashier and the customers.
The children made leaf people using different leaves collected outside
We did some leaf rubbings
We created a glasshouse using magnets
We planted some cress seeds
We made flowers in our Art and Craft station by using rolled up pieces of crepe paper that we stuck on our flower template

Our New Playground

Here are some photos of us enjoying our new playground and our first week back to school in Senior Infants!

Aistear Home

For September our Aistear theme is Home. We have been busy every morning doing lots of fun activities based on the home.
Look at us building our houses in our construction corner
We loved playing role play in our home corner
We also did some threading of homes using our giant thread boards
We really enjoyed painting some houses for Aistear
