Here is some of the brilliant work that Senior Infants have done on the last week of Home Learning!! They were working on the different STEM challenges and making some wonderful creations!! We did the story 'When it's the last day of school" and did some wonderful end of year activities. They have all worked so hard and deserve an amazing summer!! Happy Holidays!! :)

Home Learning 15th - 19th June

The children did some wonderful work at home this week. We did the story 'And then comes summer' and were working on our subtraction skills. Children also designed their own birds and presented them to us on our zoom! It was a great week. Well done Senior Infants!!

Home Learning 8th - 12th June

Have a look at some of the wonderful work our class have completed at home this week. We were learning all about bees and some children drew a picture of a bee on a flower that they have shared with you. Our story for the week was 'Sand, Waves and Ice-cream' and they have answered questions on the story and completed some fun activities based on it. Our Maths this week introduced us to the topic of subtraction and we completed some worksheets on this using pictures to help us. Well done Senior Infants!

Home Learning 25th - 29th May

Here is some of the wonderful work Senior Infants did at home for the last week in May. They were learning all about spatial awareness in Maths and did so through the story 'Rosie's Walk'. They read the story 'If All the Animals Came Inside' for English where some interesting zoo animals entered the little boy's house. It was a fun learning week at home!

Home Learning 18th - 22nd May

Here are some pictures of Senior Infants work this week. We have been looking at zoo animals and did the story 'Who's at the zoo?' and children drew pictures of their favourite animal. We also looked at spatial awareness and ordinal number in Maths. Well done to all of the children for their hard work!

Home Learning 11th - 15th May

Some of the wonderful pictures of work our class have been doing at home this week. As it was book week this week some of the children have been sending in pictures of their favourite books and one boy in the class even sent in a picture of a reading fort he made with his sister and another girl in our class sent in a really cool reading fort she made for her and her teddies. Well done everyone!

Home Learning 5th May - 8th May

Well done to our Senior Infants again for all their hard work this week at home. See some pictures of the work they have done and of them enjoying the outdoors and learning some new skills. Well done everybody!!

Home Learning 27th April - 1st May

Here is some of the wonderful work that Senior Infants have sent in this week. They have been working hard on their sums, using pictures as well as symbols. They did a Maths trail in their local environment and used natural objects found outside to create different shapes. They have been looking at the stories 'Back to Earth With A Bump' and 'How to Catch A Star' and completing questions on them. It is also ACTIVE week and they are also doing lots of activities outdoors and some of the children are practicing their cooking skills! Well done everyone! :)

The children in Senior Infants have been busy doing some wonderful work at home. Look at some of their amazing creations.

Self Expression Day

We had great fun dressing up as people we admire and expressing ourselves on the last day before the midterm break. Check out some of our cool costumes! :)

Aistear Time At The Doctor's Surgery

We love Aistear in our class. Have a look at the fun we had doing role play in a doctor's office, creating some tools that the doctor uses with playdough such as a stethoscope and drawing some patients at a doctor's surgery.

Science Week

We did lots of experiments for Science week in our class.
Here we put skittles of different colours in a circle around a plate and poured warm water on top. A rainbow gradually started to appear. It was so much fun to watch!
This experiment is called 'Storm in a cup'. Here we put water in a jar and on top put some shaving foam. We mixed some water and blue food colouring into a bowl and then poured it bit by bit on top of the shaving foam. The shaving foam acted as the clouds and when the clouds could not hold any more rain, the storm happened.
Dancing Hearts - this was a great experiment that we did in small groups. We got a cup of 7up and some love heart sweets. We placed the sweets into the cup and watched as they danced in the fizzy 7up!
We were so lucky to have one of the parents come in and do a fun experiment using flowers and food colouring in our class. She placed the flowers in the food colouring mixed with water and we left the flowers on the window ledge for a few days and watched as the petals changed to the same colour as the food colouring. The stem had soaked up the coloured water and changed the white petals to a different colour. Science is so much fun!!!!!

Fun with our musical instruments

We made some instruments at home using recyclable materials and we experimented with them in class along with some of the instruments we have in school already. We created a song in our groups and played it for the class.

Post Office Aistear

The children had great fun playing Post Office for Aistear in December. They used Lego to build their own post office and created their own role play in a Post Office.

People At Work

Children had great fun taking on the roles of different people at work. They enjoyed being builders using Jago blocks and making different items for different jobs using playdough.

Weight

The children enjoyed learning about weight in Maths and using a balance to weigh different items around the classroom, seeing how many cubes it takes to balance each item.
They also cut out different items and decided whether they were heavy or light and stuck them down on the correct sheet.

Aistear: The Vet

We all became vets and were busy looking after all the animals in Aistear.

The Visit From The Vet

The Senior Infant classes were so lucky to have a visit from Firhouse Veterinary practice. Lily the dog came in with them for a visit. We used a stethoscope to check Lily's heartbeat and fed her some nuts.

Grandparents' Day

Some of the childrens' Grandparents came into our class to visit. They spoke about what life was like when they were young. One of the Grandmother's brought in a chicken to show the class and she even laid an egg on our floor! It was a great day!!
