Self-Expression Day 2014 was great fun!

Picture

On our last day before mid-term break we did drama with Jill, we listened and danced to music, our pupils brought in, from Latvia, Russia and South Africa. We also said goodbye to Rachael as she finished her temporary work in our school. We thanked Sarah for taking cool photographs of us in our school. We wished everyone a Happy Halloween.

It's Maths week!! Let's have fun playing some Maths games...
The story of 10! Play this game to practise adding to ten
Math Lines 10
This game helps us recognise the relationships between similar patterns
Meet Paul Pattern
This ten frame game helps us understand how other numbers are related to the number 10.
Illuminations 10 frame game
We are superheroes.

We're going on a leaf hunt!

September

Let's dance!

We played basketball with Gillian from Hoop Skool Dublin
We listened to this song by Bjork to show an example of dynamics, and to portray the relationship between dynamics and the emotion a song might communicate to the listener. The children were introduced to musical terms forte (f), meaning loud and piano (p), meaning soft. We had great fun listening and responding to the different dynamics throughout this song!
Poem for September

Magic Cat

By Peter Dixon

My mum whilst walking through the door

spilt some magic on the floor.

Blobs of this

and splots of that

but most of it upon the cat.

Our cat turned magic, straight away

and in the garden went to play

where it grew two massive wings

and flew around in fancy rings.

“Oh look!” cried Mother, pointing high,

“I didn’t know our cat could fly.”

Then with a dash of Tibby’s tail

she turned my mum into a snail!

So now she lives beneath a stone

and dusts around a different home.

And I’m an ant

and Dad’s a mouse

and Tibby’s living in our house.
