Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to school. We have a busy term ahead with a visit to the library for both Junior and Senior Infants on Tuesday 11th November. If you would like to volunteer to join us on this trip let us know as soon as you can.
We will also be holding parent-teacher meetings during the week of November 26th. You will receive an invitation and more details in due course.
Also if anyone would like to help with some worksheet photocopying, cutting and laminating between 8.30am and 9.15am any day, please call to the office. Arnela has been doing fantastic work with this and it would be more enjoyable if a couple of people could join up for this work. You can have a coffee too! The only condition is that parents must leave the office / staff room before it is used as a learning support / therapy room from 09.20 onwards.
Thank you to Anne, our Learning Support teacher, for setting up Ready Set Go Maths for Senior Infants and to the parents Rachel C. and Greta who've been helping out with this. We have just another week of the programme to do.
Our newly formed PGTA is planning many new initiatives and we look forward to everyone helping out.
So far, I haven't any news regarding a site for our school. As soon as I hear anything I will pass it on and I expect this to be after the next SDCC meeting.
Our review committees for Code of Behaviour and Literacy policies will be meeting up very soon (dates to be agreed this week) and we'll then be in a position to submit recommendations to the Board of Management and then to all parents.
During November both Junior and Senior Infant Classes will focus on the value of SHARING as part of our Learn Together Curriculum. Please chat with your child about the importance of sharing and encourage them to explain to you how they share in school as well as at home. The emphasis is on sharing kind words, news, information, how to do things etc., as well as sharing books, pencils or toys etc.
I'm sure I will think of many more things to add to this newsletter as soon as school gets back into the swing of things this week. Let me know if you've any news to share or questions to ask. It's always great to get some feedback!
Looking forward to seeing you all again.
Very best,
Collette
