Hi Everyone,
Just some updates on events tomorrow and next week:
Friday 29th September PHOTOS: the children in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Classes who didn't have their photographs taken on Wednesday will have them taken tomorrow. Given the tight spaces and doubling up in classrooms we've decided to have the class groups photographed after we've moved into our new school building in panorama style. The cost reductions for families who buy individual photos will still apply.
Friday 29th September: at 10.00 am Independent Newspapers will film a video of students' comments on what the government should spend money on.
Monday 2nd October: We're having fitness day to celebrate National Fitness Day (which is really tomorrow but we've so much happening already tomorrow we've decided to make Monday the day of extra active activities in our school.
Tuesday 3rd October: at 10.00 am Goldilocks Puppet Show for all classes in hall of Firhouse Community Centre.
S.E.T. (Special Education Teaching): as noted in newsletter earlier in the week we are meeting with parents as well as continuing assessments for children needing support. We are also setting up the new Support Plans required for each child under the new system for Special Education Teaching. As we have many children requiring support we very much appreciate your patience and understanding while waiting to meet with us about your child.
Wednesday 4th October: Move It Morning in the yard at 8.20am.
Wednesday 4th October: this is the date now set for us to receive the definite date for moving into our new school building. Today, four members of staff attended demonstrations re services, security and alarms in our new school building from 9am to 3.30pm. The building is looking superb both inside and out. Two basketball courts are finished and will also be our Senior Yard area with a separate Junior Yard area alongside. There's also a school garden and the courtyard has lovely ochre stone paving with planted areas and water and electricity so as we can install a water feature at some stage in the future. The classrooms are fully fitted out with storage, coat hooks, mesh and blackout blinds and Drinking Water taps. Most importantly it is all very spacious.
Thursday 5th October: Forest School / Green School: continuing to plant bulbs, care for our Community Orchard and clean the area inside and outside our school grounds.
Very best regards,
Collette
