Principal's Newsletter
As the mid-term break is fast approaching it's a good time to reflect on how well the children are settling in to Junior Infants and the great advantage they have this year with teachers Tríona and Anita as well as Gráinne our temporary SNA who is a Montessori teacher, in class.
There have been many activities in Junior Infants in the past couple of weeks. Our class trip to Tallaght Library was very nice and I'd like to thank Elaine and Conrad for joining us on the day as we couldn't have gone without their help. Since then the children have taken time outdoors to collect leaves for leaf rubbings and on Wednesday we all had a great adventure with a fire drill in the rain. The great baking week was very popular with the children and I can say the scones were delicious. The Doctor's Surgery, Home Corner and Junk Art are also much enoyed Aistear Activities. Maths in action results for the target 5 which are on view outside the classroom are very impressive.
Monday 21st October is the last day for ordering school photographs if you're interested in buying same.
Next week will see a focus on Human Rights and will finish with 'Self Expression Dress Up Day' on Friday 25th when we close for the mid-term break.
After the mid-term Junior Infants will be taking a trip to Dublin Zoo. The total cost will be advised when we have transport booked. We are looking for parents interested in joining us on this trip so let us know if you're interested. Tríona has also arranged for the Dogs' Trust to visit our school on 28th November.
The computers donated by Brian now have edubuntu operating system uploaded thanks to Jason and the projector which is up and running in the classroom is being put to great use. The school logo is coming along very nicely thanks to Conrad. Rachel is looking into setting up planter beds in the garden for the children to do gardening.
Our gate at the top of the stairs is looking good and shortly we'll have a sign for it thanks to Ruairí who has offered to get the printing done.
Thank you to all parents and guardians for your support and for coming to our meeting with Sarah Williams earlier this month. I think it's great that you've begun getting together to brainstorm fundraising ideas and have arranged a meeting in the school for next Wednesday 23rd October at 7.30pm for all parents who can to join in.
Our school is progressing wonderfully well especially when you think we are only seven weeks open! Everyone involved is doing great work, especially the twenty one pupils in Junior Infants.
Have a great week,
Collette
